Subject: [ECS-ALL] Virtual ECS Conference 2021

Dear ECS members,

I hope this message finds you and your families safe and healthy. It has been a while since we all met at the World Marine Mammal Conference in beautiful Barcelona. Since then, things have taken a quite dramatic turn and we are all now immersed in a pandemic crisis that was hard to imagine back in December when we announced that the next ECS Conference would be taking place in Israel in Spring 2021.

Unfortunately, under the present circumstances we are forced to post-pone the ECS Conference in Israel until Spring 2022. The current pandemic scenario opens too many question marks to organize an ECS Conference in 2021 with enough guarantees.

The ECS membership for all current ECS members will be automatically renewed for year 2021 at no cost. At the ECS we are working towards the organization of a one-week program of on-line seminars/key-note presentations that will be addressing hot topics of marine mammal science and will be freely available to all of you. The precise calendar, content and format will be announced in due time.
